The National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) in collaboration with the International Society of Petroleum Engineers organized the engineering career day exhibition at Western City Centre on Tuesday morning, 7 March 2017, with extensive participation by male and female students from the University of Bahrain and the trainees of Bahrain Training Institute, besides noticeable participation by national universities and training institutes in various engineering disciplines from different GCC states and in the presence of officials of NOGA, the International Society of Petroleum Engineers and other concerned organizations and stakeholders .

 

The event was organized in tandem with the 20th Middle East Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (MEOS 2017), which was hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the  auspicious patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, during the period 6 to 9 March 2017 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, in recognition of the prominent and important role of the oil industry intended to inspire the next generation of engineers and professions to get engaged and work in the oil and gas field.

 

The purpose of this professional exhibit is to attract and galvanize the interest of university male and female students of engineering faculties to explore an assortment of a set of the various employment opportunities available in the oil and gas industry. It is hoped by this event to help expand the knowledge and awareness of the participating students and maximize knowledge of the career paths in this vital and important field.

 

Engineer Hamad Al-Sa'ati, from Baker Hughes Company and engineer Farah Al-Ghamdi, from Rawabi Oil and Gas Holding Company gave speeches in the meeting on their professional experiment with their respective companies and the professional and engineering roles and capacities within their respective organizations. The participants viewed the speeches as an opportunity to closely acquaint themselves with the experiments of the young engineers in national and international oil companies as well as an opportunity to exchange practical expertise, a foundation for transfer of knowledge and acquisition systems and investment thereof in favour of building and boosting their capacities and expansion of their knowledge relative to work and employment in the oil and gas sector.

 

The engineering career day exhibition in the oil, gas and energy sector offered a high level opportunity to students and fresh graduates to speak in an informal environment and setting to a number of youth who work in various industrial and oil positions and energy fields from various national, local, regional and international companies. Several companies, including Baker Hughes, Rawabi Oil and Gas Holding, EBDC of Nigeria, local and Gulf universities, including the University of Qatar, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and other various companies participated in the engineering career day exhibition thanks to the proactive interactive environment offered by the exhibition and the opportunity to directly raise questions and discuss momentous issues with the representatives of the companies. Then the participants in this event moved on to the 20th Middle East Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition (MEOS 2017) to meet with the 188 participating companies from some 25 countries from around the globe.

 

On its part, the National Oil and Gas Authority lauded great efforts exerted by the International Society of Petroleum Engineers in organizing this event, which accompanied the conference and exhibition MEOS 2017 and the close coordination and cooperation with the NOGA in producing this cycle of the events in highly professional standards that honours and befits the sterling reputation attained by the Kingdom of Bahrain of Bahrain in hosting and organizing specialized oil and gas events, conferences and exhibitions. The Authority highly valued the positive participation in this vital event by Bahrain University, Bahrain Training Institute, Gulf universities, exhibitors and keynote speakers and hoped that all participants gain benefit and realize the objectives sought by all parties.
